The Harper Family and our 2012-2013 Executive Board |
As we wrap up our philanthropy efforts for the year, we were so lucky to have the Harper Family come and visit us to share their personal story about Make-A-Wish and the impact it has had on their lives. Mrs. Harper shared the inspiring story of her son Kyler, and his battle with a very rare genetic disorder called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. Kyler is one of only 800 known cases of this disorder in the world, and because of this, he has already had two open heart surgeries at a young age. Mrs. Harper expressed her gratitude to Make-A-Wish foundation for providing her family with an amazing trip to Disney World, with all expenses paid. The trip included a stay at an incredible resort called Give Kids the World, which included an ice cream bar open from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. that Kyler and his sister, Hope, both loved. The memories that the Harper family will have because of their trip to Disney World will last a lifetime, and it was incredible to hear how our philanthropy efforts for Make-A-Wish impact real people in such enormous ways! We thank the Harper family for their willingness to share their amazing story with us, and we wish them only the best for the future.

Then, it was time to reveal the total amount of money we raised for Make-A-Wish this year! We at Omicron Chapter are proud to announce that we have raised $27, 548. 74 this year, and this money will grant the wishes of five children! Thanks to our current philanthropy chair, Erica Williams, and everyone who was able to make granting so many wishes possible!
